The Student Horror Film Festival is an open event for all middle school and high school students. Students are given 96-hours to conceptualize, shoot, edit and produce a 6-minute (maximum length) film. Submissions are then judged and selected films are screened at the Student Horror Film Festival at the Emmaus Movie Theater. Organized as a school or team competition, winners receive cash and prizes and ultimately compete to have their films premier in the Emmaus Theater.

All films are judged on set criteria by an independent panel of professionals in the film industry based on effective use of required material; storytelling ability; quality of acting, editing and film direction; creativity and originality.

Here's how it works:

  1. Students report to 800 Pine Street, Emmaus High School Administration Bldg. on October 13th at 6:00 pm for our kick-off meeting, and register for the competition. Those who cannot attend this meeting can access the rules from this web page however you must to let us know you are competing in the festival.
  2. 6:00 - 6:15 pm - Registration. Cost is $10 per team.
  3. 6:15 - 7:15 pm - Kick-off meeting where you will receive an educational seminar on how best to compete, tips and tricks from professionals and the rules of the competition.
  4. You have only 96-hours to complete the competition and return your finished film to us outside the Emmaus Theater on Monday, October 17th between 6:00 - 7:00 pm
