Into The Garden

"I never knew there were so many beautiful secret gardens in Emmaus"

This was a comment I heard expressed more than once throughout the daylong celebration of arts and gardening in our community last week.

The Emmaus Arts Commission would like to take this opportunity to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped to let the secret out and make our first ”Emmaus Art In The Garden Tour a great success! The weather couldn’t have been better and after tons of mulch, lots of weeding, digging, and hours of planning and organizing -- our nine Emmaus garden sites hosted tours for over three hundred people. Several of our garden visitors hailed from as far away as Alaska, New York City, Erie Pennsylvania, as well as many gardening enthusiasts throughout the Lehigh Valley.

Participants were able to take leisurely strolls through pristine yards, see historic architecture, talk with landscape and gardening experts, listen to talented musicians, buy native plants, purchase fine arts and crafts from numerous artisans, sample delicious treats from local bakeries, and even hear a cooking tip or two. The Emmaus Art in the Garden Tour proved to be a memorable day for all of those involved.

The nine locations were:

  • Knaus Homestead & Remembrance Garden: 444 Minor St.
  • 1803 House: 55 South Keystone Avenue
  • Veteran's Memorial Garden
  • Farmer's Garden: 221 N. 3rd St
  • Lee's Front Garden: 228 N. 3rd St
  • Boehmer's Garden: 332 N. 3rd St.
  • Tempest's Garden: 127 W. Berger St
  • Loch's Garden: 105 Spruce St.
  • Nowak's Garden: 104 E. Spruce St.
